NEGOTIATION SKILLS TO MAINTAIN PROFIT

This dynamic workshop teaches attendees negotiating skills particular to the construction industry. Emphasis is placed on negotiating both entitlement and value of changed work or extra costs, starting with providing proper notice when experiencing an increase in contract time or contract price. The workshop also teaches:

  • How to properly keep track of and document extra or changed work, 

  • Preparing the change order request or claim,

  • Following the contract's claims procedures,

  • Using sound negotiation skills and avoiding escalating emotions, and

  • What to expect when participating in various dispute resolution procedures such as meet and confers, mediations and arbitrations. 

The workshop culminates with an energetic mock mediation to allow the participants to test out their new found negotiation skills.​
